Wally Bower, 71, of Wolfville  passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at home surrounded by family.

Born in Shelburne in 1948 Wally is survived by his brother Mitchell and wife Brenda, brother Phillip and his sister Rosaleen.

Wally was predeceased by his brother Leon and sister Lulu; his father Bradford; mother Josie; and Rosaleen’s husband Terry.

Wally was a physical education teacher in Halifax for his career of 33 years; he was well known as Mr. B.  He studied at the Teacher’s College in Truro where he met his wife Shirley, of nearly 50 years, he continued his education at Dalhousie University.  Wally loved life, was always smiling and was an avid outdoorsman; skiing and curling in the winter and fishing, hiking, camping, biking in the summer.  He loved watching and feeding the birds.  He was an avid Beatles, Johnny Cash, Rod Stewart and Elvis fan.  Wally had a wonderful laugh and great sense of humour.  He loved all sports as a teacher, coach and player.

Wally’s family always came first, his children Matthew and his partner Leanne, Amy and her husband Paul and four grandchildren Markus, Adam, Heidi and Bethany and son Benjamin and his wife Jordan.

The family asks that social media postings are avoided where possible.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Wolfville Funeral Chapel.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy of Canada.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Wolfville Funeral Chapel, 568 Main Street, Wolfville, B4P 1E5 (902-542-4656).
