Dear Gerry, You will have no idea how much I will miss you. Our friendship will outlast time. You where my best friend in life, my companion during those long hours at the store while you walked the beat on Barrington, you stood with me during my Masonic days, and was my best man at my wedding. You helped me get away from a life of crime. ALWAYS a helping hand. Your advice and friendship will be sorely missed. See you soon brother, but not too soon.

So, sorry for your loss of Gerry. We have some great memories of you and he, and us... I think of Coburg Road, and sometimes have to laugh at the memories of those times. He was so proud of you and his kids. We'll miss him.

Dear Carol, Lindsay and Amy:
We’re so sorry for this great loss, dear ones. We have so many wonderful memories of times together, sometimes with all the kids in tow, patient fluffy little Elmo putting up with the boys shenanigans and the girls hugs and kisses, Gerry filling little bellies with pineapple squares while soundly beating Andrew at chess... we have an entire bookshelf full of Christmas books that Bruce’s faithful Godfather gave the whole family every year (winky face, Carol... we know who bought and wrapped those books), Gerry teaching me to cut glass, encouraging me through depression, building Andrew up into the man he is today through Masonic mentoring and true brotherly love. Introducing us to bagpipes and haggis... honestly his fingerprints are all over our lives and we are so grateful that he let his light so shine before us that we glorify our Father in heaven.
”May the God of Hope full you with all Joy and Peace as you trust in Him”
Much love,
Andrew and Sonya

Pam and I are so sorry to hear of Gerry’ s passing
We went to Dal together, worked at the student union building together, and we were both surprised to see each other in a Halifax Police uniform !!
Back in the 70’s university students were not the usual recruit !
We walked the Gottingen St beats together , and Gerry was always there for me . We watched each other’s backs and his calm mannerism saved us on many occasions
To say that one could count on Gerry would be an understatement
Please know that we will always treasure those memories and you all are in our thoughts and prayers
I know that Gerry is watching our backs

I learned of Gerry's passing this morning and was saddened to hear of it. He was my PT instructor as well for HPD class of 78, and was fit and strong. We walked the downtown Halifax beats together in the early 80s and he was a good guy to have by your side when things went sideways. That's a great picture of him, and how I will remember him....in his prime. My condolences to his family.

It’s been many decades since I last spoke with Gerry. He was a fine man, in fact a man among men in my mind. He accomplished much and loved and was loved. I’ll always remember his strength, character and presence. A few more Gerrys in our world and it would be a better place.
God bless his family.

I am so sorry to hear about Gerry. I really enjoyed the year I spent curling with Gerry and Carol, and I especially enjoyed his strong quiet nature. I will always remember trying to out slide Gerry at the start of our games. I did not manage to beat him for months, until I got my new pair of shoes and slider. When I beat him for the first, he never said a word, but gave me this smile that I will never forget. I have really missed seeing him around the club the last couple of years. All my best to Carol and his whole family.

My condolences to Gerry's family. I am sorry for your loss. He was one of the first people I met at the Halifax Regional Police. He was our trainer for our recruit class in 1979 and he set an example for all of us to follow in our police careers. He also was an example of how fitness was an asset in policing. He will be remembered and missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
