Dear Al Fitch....
A kind, warm, and generous soul....deeply caring - he couldn't help but bring smiles to those whose lives he touched- his spirit lives with me in memory of many moons ago when I first stepped onto Happy Valley shores- it was a short time but a rich time..
Rest in Peace, Al!

I remember those George St. days and Allan beating on a tin candy bucket. In those days, he wanted real drumsticks.
My wife and I had only one opportunity to watch him play with Kim in Moncton. The tributes I read indicate he went on to
do what he loved and made many friends doing it. Our condolences.

I was so sad to hear the shocking news of Al’s passing. Although I had not seen much of Al in recent years I have so many great memories of hanging out and playing together back in the 70s and early 80s in classic Valley bands like “Morning Express”, “High Voltage” and “The Small Band” (love these names!). Al was a gentle soul who loved being a musician and the close friendships that playing music brought to him. He and my late Dad also developed a close bass/drum relationship in the Centennial Dixieland Jazz Band. More recently my brother and nephew played with Al in Bluesmobile. So with Al’s passing part of our musical family is gone.
Condolences to all of Al’s family and many friends. He will be missed.

I am very saddened by Al's passing at such a young age. I worked with him many times at the Acadia Jazz Camp. He was a funny and gentle soul; he was also wonderful to chat with. My deepest condolences to his family.

I did not know Al personally, but a number of West Novas have told me of his time with the WNSR Brass and Reed Regimental Band. On behalf of the WNSR Regimental Association, I express our sincere sympathy on Al's passing, and I thank him for his service. We miss our Band and those who help us to hold our heads high through the military music of our history and heritage.
Losing a loved one is never easy, but we hope that memories of the good times together will help to lessen the sorrow you must feel now. May he rest in peace.

Allen's father was the son of my grandmother's sister. He lived next to us on George St and Frank his uncle and Donnie his cousin was down the path/road behind us on Park Street. Allen was a lot younger than most of the guys that roamed the Subdivision and tobogganed down Grant Street. I remember he had a penchant for beating out a tune on whatever he could find - including the cement rocks used to support our lawn. He looks like I remember just older an with facial hair. To Allen's and the Fitch Family from your cousins the Youngs - truly too much talent to lose and a life well lived.
I would say Rest in Peace but that is the last hing any drummer would want to do.

I was so sorry to hear of Al’s passing!
My thoughts are with family and friends who are grieving at this time! Al and I spent a lot of time together,
But now I feel it was not enough.
Al was always my first call as a friend or musician.
We spent time making music in our recording studios,
Where we work together so closely
Producing and recording albums and radio and TV commercials.
Al could make things happen!
We worked together for the 1984 symphony Nova Scotia
with Harry Belafonte coordinating his National symphony IBM benefit tour for Canada with Anne Mortifee.
We played so many gigs together with so many bands notably
“high-voltage”
“Heimi Hinkel Ompah Orchestra”
Al was always enjoyed going to Lake Rossignol and helping with what was needed there,
whether it was roofing or building a deck.
He was my chaperone to Montreal in 1980 with the High school band.
Al was a fantastic musician,
And, always patient and kind to me, thanks for the love Al.
I have faith that there is another place where we will share, Much laughter and music!
Fair thee well my friend.

To the family of Al,
Please accept my heart felt condolences on the passing of Al. I am very sad to hear Al has left us. I have known Al since we were teenagers. He being a fellow drummer we didn't see each other much as we were both usually doing our thing.
When ever our paths did cross we enjoyed the moments together. He was a fixture for many years at the July 1st Dixie land Jazz band concert in Hantsport The high light of the whole fair for me was to see and hear Al perform.
He was so humble, kind, knowledgeable, funny and such a talented person. He personally helped me be a better drummer asking nothing in return. He was just happy to help. His knowledge of percussion was astounding. During his time at the music store we shared some very funny moments together, and during that time he sold me a lot of gear. As many people can attest his solid powerful performances were always uplifting and just that darn good. Al without fail always made me feel good. A good friend you could always count on, he was such a great person. I miss him, he left us too early as I know he had a lot left to give. - We can take solace in our fond memories of him. I can still see and hear him behind the kit just loving it!
Sadly, and sincerely,
Patrick Patterson Hortonville N.S

My forever memories of AL are spread over 40 years in friendship and music. I could count on Al, “always”.We talked a lot! He was always telling stories with that smile! During the 80’s He played on all the demo sessions of one of my Nashville recordings, he was so young but had incredible knowledge in percussion. After the 90’s Al and I played together on a variety of concerts probably a couple of hundred times from then to present where just 3 months ago, AL accompanied us on a u tube project Called Good Ol’ Boys Keep’in Country Alive. We completed 3/12 sessions and got shut down due to Covid 19. AL, thank you, what a treasure you have given us to watch and listen to You on these videos. With sincere respect, RIP Good old boy!

To Al’s family...I know none of you only my good friend, Carol, who is a cousin to Al. But I certainly was in shock at his passing. My condolences to you all....and may Al rest in love......and yes, the beat goes on! ( and so do his memories).
