Obituary of Shirley Irene Christie

Shirley Irene Christie, née Burbidge, 79, of Kentville passed away peacefully on February 24, 2021.

Irene’s pastimes of keeping physically fit, cards and sewing introduced her to many friends through her life, whether it was in the swimming pool, on the dance floor or making up the fourth at a game of bridge.  In the last six weeks of her life, her many friends, both old and new, made sure she knew how much they cared for her. This meant a great deal to her, as did the opportunity to make as many memories as possible in the time remaining.

She certainly lived up to her life philosophy to live well.

Irene is survived by her children Dana, Jane and Fraser Christie; her daughter-in-law Faith; grandchild Kaitlyn; and her siblings Marilyn, Scott and Nancy.

Irene has been cremated with no funeral or memorial service, as per her request.  A celebration of her life with her nearest and all her dearest friends will be arranged for a future date when COVID restrictions allow for the celebration she wanted.
