Obituary of Beverly Pearl Brown

Please share a memory of Beverly to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

“Finally able to leave the pain and suffering, Mum has slipped away to be with thelove of her life and Best Buddy’, her late husband, Keith Brown and daughter Wanda Brown on April 5, 2021. Also, to be greeted by her mum and grampa Aubrey and Pearl Mclnnis. Beverly Pearl Brown was born in Wolfville on July 21, 1936 and raised on a farm in Greenfield.”

Beverly was fiercely proud of being a hard-working country girl and especially proud of her family, who benefited from her care and total support. She was never satisfied with just gliding by and making do, she was a go-getter and achiever, if Beverly wanted or needed something to make her familys’ life better or easier, she did whatever she could to make it happen. Beverly worked at various jobs after leaving her family farm, including apple picking, a clerk at the Five and Dime in Wolfville, Save-Easy as well as at Blomidon Nurseries where she excelled as ‘seeding specialist’. Her home flower gardens were admired by many travelers, tourists and locals.

One of her proudest accomplishments was graduating from the G.E.D. program with her High School Diploma. When her husband, Keith, started his painting business, it was decided that Beverly should ‘keep the books’. So, with characteristic determination she enrolled in an accounting course and became a bookkeeper for the many years of Keith’s business. During that time, she volunteered with the conservation group, Wildlife Habitat Advocates and became Treasurer there. She was a proud member of valley garden groups as well as horse organizations. For many years she rode various horses of her own in valley parades and exhibitions, often coming away with a winning ribbon. But for all her many accomplishments, Beverly was proudest of her life with Keith, doing everything together side by side, from hunting, fishing and canoeing to gardening, driving grand-kids to functions to volunteering with wildlife habitat projects.

Even with all her many accomplishments Beverly was quietly humble, preferring no special attention to herself but insisting her ‘Best Buddy’, Keith and her kids receive total recognition.

She was, simply put, an amazing, caring, loving country Lady, who put everyone else before herself.

Beverly leaves behind to grieve, her children Kevin (Ruth), Courtenay, BC; Cynthia (Gordon), Melanson; Barry (Sandra), Greenfield; Darrell (Norma), Greenfield; brother David (Sue) Tabor, Cambridge; sisters Diane Morine, Wolfville; Brenda Robertson, St. Croix; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Committal Service will take place on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm in Greenfield Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
