Obituary of Bernice Geneva Mahar

Please share a memory of Bernice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear mother, grandmother and friend Bernice Geneva Mahar, 97 of Middleton on May 26, 2021.  After Bernice's battle with dementia, she passed peacefully in the Heart of the Valley Long Term Care Home. Bernice was the daughter of the late Harris and Mable (Horne) Webber.

Bernice was one of a kind who had many passions and interests that included square dancing, line dancing, African Violet society, tole painting, quilting, church activities and attended Aylesford United Church for many years.

She is survived by her daughters Sandra Graves of Berwick and Judith (Tim) Fredericks of Middle Sackville; grandchildren Michael (Debbie Forsythe) Graves; Darrell (Shauna) Graves; Angie (John) Jennex; Jonathan Fredericks; Scott (Karen) Mahar; Michelle (Jason) Finch; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Henry Mahar; son Earle Mahar of Greenwood; sister Maureen; brother Earle and sister-in-law Evelyn Webber of Windsor; and brother-in-law Reynolds Carty of Kingsport.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place at a later date, with interment in the Habitant Cemetery. Memorial donations, in Bernice’s memory, may be made to the Alzheimers Society or the Aylesford United Church.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
