Bettyann was born in Wheaton Settlement, NB to Wildfred and Emma Quelch on November 30 ,1935. She graduated from Salisbury Regional High School in Salisbury, NB. She moved to Nova Scotia in the 1950’s with her husband, Vince, where they would spend the remainder of their lives. Betty worked many different jobs after arriving in NS such as; with GB Murphys, Eatons, and Bolands until her daughter was born. After Susan was born, she stayed at home and provided childcare to 2 families over the years. Betty was known for her kindness and was always there for her family and friends whenever they needed her. She was an exceptional cook and baker and was known for her lasagnas and baked goods. She was extremely active and was always on the go. She loved going for walks at Shubie Park and the Boardwalk in Eastern Passage. She especially loved spending time with her daughter and 3 grandchildren. They were the light of her life and she loved to spoil them. She cherished the time she spent with her 3 sisters; they were affectionately known as “the Quelch Sisters” to those who knew them. The sisters shared a special bond and remained very close throughout their lives. Betty and Vince loved travelling to New Brunswick any chance they had to spend time with family. They also loved going on day trips around Nova Scotia. Betty was a proud member of the Woodlawn United Church where she enjoyed attending weekly services with her sister, Ruth. Betty enjoyed being a member of TOPS for over 30 years. She also enjoyed helping Vince plan dinners, dances and events for the Chief and Petty Officers Association.
