Dear Kim, Lisa and Darren,
A beautiful tribute for a beautiful lady. It’s amazing how we forget the great memories when we are immersed in harder times. And there were many, many good times.
All the best and peace be with you all.

Kim and family
What a beautiful tribute of your mom and her life story. We come from our mother so losing them is like losing a part of ones self. Sometimes we lose our mom to a long illness, yet their physical presence is still with us, or we go through the long good-bye with dementia. To be a mother is a gift, to have a mother is a blessing. With the passing of your mom, times spent with her and the memories you shared, will hopefully give you comfort in the days, weeks and months ahead.
My thoughts are with you,
Cathy

Dearest Kim, Lisa and Darren...I am sending you all my most heartfelt condolences as you mourn and remember your mom. I loved your mom. Hearing of her passing was very upsetting to me. It still is. As I told Kim recently, your home was always a safe and welcoming place to me growing up... I place where I could relax and be myself...a second home to me. I can hear your mom's sweet voice welcoming me inside. I can recall her laughter now. I can see her sitting in the chair by the living room window, a rocker if I recall, knitting or watching tv in the evenings. Your house always smelled of fresh baking and I indulged in many of your mom's delicious cookies, cakes and pies over the years. My, how she kept a tidy house! And she was talented! I wore the mittens she knit when my store bought ones got too wet playing in the snow in your yard. I was amazed at the supply she kept in the drawer in your dining room! Oh, the hours I spent at your house! Sitting on the stool in your kitchen, snacking and chatting, or at the dining room table when I stayed over for a meal, playing freezer tag and chasing each other in your yard in the summer, our dish soap squirt bottles filled with water for the chase, swinging on your swing in the tree, having sleepovers in your camper with pancakes and syrup in the morning...And Dusty watching over everything in later years from her perch upstairs in the window! I will always remember your mom's gentle sparkling eyes, beautiful heart- shaped smile, and soft spoken voice with the little lilt in it. Her face lit up when she smiled! She was a beautiful woman, a kind soul, a wonderful neighbour and friend. I was blessed to have known her and blessed to have all of you as my dear neighbours and friends throughout my childhood. You will always have a place in my heart, as will your dear mom. May she be eternally at peace and in the loving presence of Deanna's spirit and the spirits of her other loved ones now. God speed, dear Lyla. Fly with the angels! Much love to you, always.xoxo

My Aunt Lyla did indeed have a lilting voice. I am one of many nieces and sister to Lyla Jayne, who is Lyla June's namesake. I can hear her now in my head, with a very distinctive voice, calling, "Deanna-aah." She was always so pleasant with us all, always smiling and shy. It's sad when someone passes, but so comforting to recall fond memories of someone who is warm and kind. Condolences to Darren, Lisa, and Kim, their families, and Lyla's good friends with their own fond memories of her.
