I am so sorry to hear about Dave's passing.
Dave and I met through work at Community Services. He was an incredible help to me when I started with the department. His knowledge, patience & guidance were well appreciated. During our days together we found many moments to have a laugh and we learned as much through those moments as we did from the actual work.
In reading his obituary, it is amazing to read about the impact he has had on others.
Dave will be missed.
My deepest condolences to the family.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of David. I am sorry for your loss.
I had the privilege of getting to know David, as a colleague and friend, as we worked closely on our project to build a new transition house in the Valley. I have great respect for the character, passion, and generosity David demonstrated, both professionally and personally.
Always thoughtful, David regularly came to the shelter with cookies and muffins for the women and children, and staff. He came to our meetings with a smile, and always had many ideas on how best to move things forward. We spent a great deal of time working together. We shared a passion for our work, we supported and respected the knowledge and experience each of us brought to the project. Working so closely with David was a privilege. I cannot sufficiently express the sadness I feel for this loss.
On behalf of our team at Chrysalis House, we send our heartfelt condolences. David will be missed, and his memory will live on with the great contributions he made to help our dream become reality.

It is so rare that someone can make such a positive impression on someone in only a few interactions. Although I only met David a few times through work, he impressed on me his presence, openness, interest in others, honesty, curiosity, kindness, and dedication to the affordable housing projects we were working on with him. My colleagues and I were all shocked and saddened by the news of his passing. He will not be forgotten.

I was so heartbroken to hear about Dave’s sudden passing. We worked together, a few years ago, when he was asked to oversee our several office moves, within Community Services. We spent many long hours planning and organizing this huge undertaking and Dave was so organized and made things happen and did so with a smile. He had the patience of a saint and ensured staff’s request were always looked after. We could never have done these renovations or moves, without Dave!
I know he was glad to move onto big and better things with Housing NS and loved his job and was proud of his great work. We had remained good friends and I will certainly miss his wicked sense of humor, his silly grin and most of all, our chats. Cheers Dave, until we meet again. xoxo

David was such a gentle and kind person, and an amazing colleague.
He was a valued member of the Housing team at the Department of Municipal Affairs and Housing where he was extremely appreciated and admired by everyone. I’ve had the honour of working with him over the past few years and keep excellent memories of our time together.
Over the past few years, his work allowed us to create many new affordable housing units for vulnerable Nova Scotians. He was our in-house expert assigned to work with non-profit housing providers on various development projects. For example, he played a very important role in the construction of new transition housing facilities for women fleeing domestic violence back in 2017, including this one in Kentville (https://www.saltwire.com/atlantic-canada/news/labour-of-love-chrysalis-house-welcomes-community-to-opening-of-new-kentville-shelter-100622086/).
He recently assisted Tawaak Housing Association in undertaking a major renovation project on more than 100 affordable housing units for Indigenous people. He was currently helping out the Affordable Housing Association of Nova Scotia on a new supportive housing project for individuals experiencing homelessness in Dartmouth (https://www.halifaxexaminer.ca/province-house/tenants-could-be-living-in-trailblazing-dartmouth-housing-project-by-mid-march/).
No word can express the sadness that I and others on my team feel today as we say good-bye to a dear friend and colleague. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I wish I had the right words to say, just know I care❤
I don't know how you feel, but I am here to help in any way I can. Just know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Dave was always such a happy guy, he loved to cook, and was very proud of what he made. The last time we were home, he made some crab meat. My husband said it was the best he's ever had! He was so kind and generous with us anytime we went to Nova Scotia. We will miss him when we visit. He would always go out of his way, to get anything we needed while we were there. He loved Tatamagouche, I'm grateful I got to spend some time there with him. Always a fun night! Dave, R.I.P. I know my sister will miss you forever. And so will anyone that knew you. Go rest high upon that mountain my friend. Until we meet again.
