Obituary of Alan Rae Dunbar
Alan Rae Dunbar, 66 of Gaspereau, passed away on February 23, 2024. He was born in Windsor on September 14, 1957, to the late Gerald and Margaret Dunbar.
Alan grew up in Hants Border and went to sea for the first part of his career, working as a bosun on oil tankers. After meeting his wife, Carol (Peet) he came ashore and they spent the last twelve years working in Fort McMurray, Alberta. He retired to Nova Scotia in 2023 with plans to enjoy his family, and do some camping and hunting.
Alan is survived by his wife, Carol (Peet); children, Alexander and Emily Dunbar (Ryker Bowlby); stepdaughter, Jessica Durling; brothers, Garth (Janet Shay), Glenn (Peggy), Ian (Cathy), Gerry (Jovie), and Marshall (Sally).
In addition to his parents, Alan was predeceased by his stepson, Luke Durling.
“Alan will be greatly missed by all.”
Cremation has taken place and as per his request no service. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, 34 Coldbrook Village Park Dr., Coldbrook, NS, B4R 1B9 (902-679-2822).
