Michael Anthony Overington Obituary

OVERINGTON, Michael      1938 - 2024

Born an only child in London, England just before WW11, marked as a child by that conflict and his rearing in a class conscious society, he lived most of his adult life in North America, latterly and with delight in Granville Ferry, Nova Scotia.  He was gifted with three daughters – Jessica, Sarah and Jennifer, the first two of whom brought him Ryan and Christopher as sons and for a time with the love of their mothers, Barbara and Margot – and always Margaret, a true friend. He found his life a series of unexpected graces.  His work was richly blessed; his friends provided hope in oft despairing times; music and reading were his comfort; he rejoiced in retirement.  In his late years he discovered unanticipated joy and love with Donna Raxlen – a marriage that was beshert from beyond this world.  He gave up this life willingly, trusting the Light he had, seeking a corner seat with his family, friends and dogs in the pub that he hoped for as an eternal dwelling. Shiva was held at the home he shared with Donna, 28 Garden St., Granville Ferry.  As flowers are not desired, should you wish to honour Michael, please send a donation to any homeless shelter. Communication with Donna: ilos@ns.sympatico.ca.
